Chevrolet has released pricing for the 2024 Equinox EV, and it’s a double dose of surprise. With a starting price of $34,995, this compact electric SUV is actually fairly attainable compared to the rest of the EV market. Unfortunately, if you want to buy that version, you’re going to have to wait; Chevy has decided to launch pricer RS trims first ahead of the base-level LT trim.

The first trims going on sale in 2024 will be two different Equinox RS trims. The Equinox 2RS will start at $48,995 for the front-wheel drive version that nets you 210 horsepower. If you want all-wheel drive, you can move up to the Equinox EV RS AWD for $52,395. That comes with a power bump to 290 hp as well.

Both RS trims come similarly equipped with features like a standard 17.7-inch infotainment screen, 21-inch wheels and heated seats. If you’re less concerned about all those features and more concerned about getting an affordable EV, you’ll have to wait; Car and Driver speculates that Chevy likely won’t introduce the base Equinox 1LT until 2025, meaning you’ll have to be patient if you want that $35,000 price tag.

It’s also worth noting that the low-end price tag has grown fairly significantly since Chevy first announced the Equinox EV in 2022; back then, the brand touted a starting price around $30,000.

Chevy isn’t talking specs for the base model yet, but based on Chevy’s base-model history, we’re assuming that the Equinox 1LT will be front wheel drive. There’s also no talk of range for any trim. Chevy mentioned that the Equinox EV will get up to 319 miles per charge but didn’t specify which trim that would be for. That would also imply that 319 miles is the most you can expect from the Equinox EV.

Chevy says it’ll start accepting orders for the Equinox EV in November ahead of its launch in early 2024.
