Nope, it's not an April Fool's Day joke. Steve Saleen announced today that he's regained control of the Saleen brand, five years after "retiring" (a move seen by many as more like "pushed out") from the eponymous company he founded and which filed for bankruptcy protection just a few years later.

"In 2007, it was a difficult decision to resign from Saleen, Inc.", said Steve Saleen in a press release. "But I knew it had to be done in order to preserve the Saleen brand and to ensure the authenticity and high performance that our customers had come to expect."

Moving forward, Saleen detailed that the Saleen registry will be updated to include all SMS Supercars branded vehicles and all warranty and repair work will still be done by his company — even if he changed the name.
